Honeywell has made this electronic air cleaner for decades. Proven tried and true. it is the only real electronic air cleaner on the market per our experience. Cells are to be removed and washed. However, rather expensive. It is the only electronic air cleaner we recommend.

Plenums are the metal box attached to the equipment in which the ducts are connected. Replacement of the plenums is not always necessary. however it always increases the appearance of the changeout and improves the quality of the job. Replacing the plenums provides the opportunity to install dampers on ducts as well. New return plenums incorporate a 4" filter. Installing  plenums to hard pipe duct requires cutting ductwork back then attaching flex duct to existing hard pipe duct. Additional cost

Line sets are the copper tubing that carries the refrigerant between the condenser outside and the coil inside. Although it is not always necessary to run a new line set cost prohibited. It tends to be a corner cut. It is recommended when changing refrigerants. However, existing line sets can be flushed. But their integrity will still be questionable. Line sets also include a cover for the exterior wall and new tstat wire ran between the equipment. It is not always possible to run new line sets.

The majority of jobs we come across need ductwork replaced. Usually due to age, ducts are dirty. usually have air leaks, inefficient. And past designs were poor. most times equipment has been replaced a couple times on same ductwork. Truth is nobody wants to do the work of replacing ductwork. Not to mention the cost. we have an all or nothing approach to ductwork. But only with replacement of indoor equipment with plenums.
